Nick
Waxman
Nick Waxman is a multi-award-winning director and international workshop presenter as well as a professional writer and performer. He has produced over 50 new works, adaptations, musicals, and plays over the last 15 years. He has toured his self-devised works with A Sunburnt History around Australia and ran acting workshops in Chicago, Beijing, and nationally. He has received over 50 nominations for his creative works, including accolades from the Victorian Drama League, the Lyrebird Awards, and the Music Theatre Guild of Victoria. He studied directing at the National Institute of Dramatic Art and works regularly with a range of Melbourne theatre companies as both a guest artist and presenter. He is also a PhD candidate at RMIT University, focusing on interactive scripts to encourage embodied voice and agency.
Nick has also produced Was and Will Be, a First Nations anthology, and an original collection of open scripts for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous performers. He is on the board of Fusion Theatre and develops educational resources for several theatre companies. Nick also works on three state government projects that bring free drama programs to schools across Victoria. Most recently, he returned from the USA, spending time with The Second City in Chicago and running workshops with several performing arts schools in Indiana and Illinois. Nick is a member of the committee of management for Drama Victoria and is the host of the award-nominated Aside Podcast.
